America is struggling with a heroin/opioid problem, which is gripping large cities and small towns alike. No longer can our medical, educational and law enforcement agencies operate in silos and so we are learning that partnering can produce positive results and save lives. The perception that law enforcement, long trained to arrest, would be the last one over the fence when it comes to combating addiction is being shattered, as these agencies began to partner with the recovery community. Local towns now have HOPE, CLEAR, ANGEL and CARE programs, that partner their police departments with recovery coaches to help those struggling with substance-use disorders. At the 2017 RED Forum you will learn about these programs, meet the police officers and recovery coaches who participate in them and get information on initiating a program in your town.
