City of Angels NJ, Inc. Family Program
The COA Family Program is a non-denominational program designed to help families of those afflicted with addiction learn how to help their loved one. This program represents the latest information in the study of the disease of addiction and covers:
- What is addiction and common traits of addiction sufferers
- Typical reactions of family members
- How family members can help their addicted loved one
- Treatment for addiction - what works, what doesn't work
- How family members can restore peace at home
- Community resources
- Questions and answers
The program will include a workbook, role-play and classroom instruction. It is completely free of charge, and will enroll between 4 and 10 participants in each class. However, this is a closed session, meaning that participation is limited to families and close friends of addicts (sorry, no addicts). The program is run in two parts, Part I each Tuesday night and Part II each Thursday night. Both parts are offered at the Dwier Center in Groveville, NJ. City of Angels recommends that all family members, age 16 and older, who have direct contact withan addicted loved one attend this important class.
